Is your dog a hero? Or do you know a hero dog? Here’s your chance to give a hero dog a big THANK YOU while sharing the story with other dog lovers AND providing a $5,000 donation to a selected pet charity. Other charity prizes will be awarded on behalf of the finalists.
The 2013 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ program is accepting nominations right now in several categories including service dogs, therapy dogs, hearing dogs, military dogs, search and rescue dogs and others.
This annual competition was started in 2010 to “celebrate the remarkable bond between dogs and people,” recognizing hero dogs who “unconditionally avail themselves to us in so many important ways, whether it’s saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight or hearing to a human companion, providing therapeutic support to children suffering from cancer, or just greeting us with a wagging tail at the end of a hard day.”
Last year’s 2012 American Hero Dog was Gabe, a specialized search dog assisting soldiers serving around the world. Gabe served his country well and enjoyed a peaceful retirement until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge just last month.
Maybe your dog will win this year!
If you’re interested in nominating a dog, visit this special website. Nominations end on April 30, so sign up today. Heroic hounds may be nominated by anyone at least 18 years of age. Good luck!
