CT-Computed Tomography-CatScan

The CT scan uses an X ray tube that rotates 360 degrees around the patient which creates a three dimensional view of the area being scanned. Our veterinary patients require sedation because movements make the X-ray images blurry. We also frequently inject a contrast dye intravenously which improves contrast and visualization of structures. Fortunately, most CT scans can be performed within 15 minutes so patients usually go home the same day. The collected CT images are processed by a computer which creates more sensitive detection of problems than regular X-rays. Images can be transmitted over the internet to board certified veterinary radiologists for interpretation. CT scanning is indicated for dogs and cats with nasal disorders, neurologic conditions like seizures, orthopedic conditions like back problems and lameness, lung diseases, cancer, kidney, liver and spleen diseases and many other conditions. Metzger Animal Hospital has the only CT scanner in Central Pennsylvania and we welcome referrals from other veterinarians to assist them in diagnosis and treatment of their patients!

CT (CAT Scan) Advanced Imaging Center

Computed tomography (CT) is an advanced imaging technology that improves visualization
of many diseases and conditions. CT has been shown to be eight times more sensitive than conventional x-rays!
